Features of Mongolian boots

Mongolian gutals are made of cow leather and have a stitched sole, so they aren’t as bulky or inconvenient as they seem. Even Mongolian national wrestlers may compete in these traditional boots, proving their worth.

Wrestling gutals would not obstruct the wrestler’s movements, but they would shield his feet and knees. In addition, the unique shape of upturned toes aids in the wrestler’s success, which includes a variety of wrestling tactics to knock his opponent to the ground.

Mongolian boots are also well-suited to horseback riding. It’s important to note that nomadic pastoralists in rural areas spend the majority of their time riding horses. Gutals, that are well filled the gap of the stirrup and its flat sole, densely stand on the lower part of the stirrup.

And if the horse unexpectedly begins to buck or gallop, the upturned toe will prevent the gutals from slipping out of the stirrup. The gutals’ unique arrangement helps the horseman to stand on the stirrup during a fast gallop in a tight saddle.

It’s worth noting that the gutal style is perfectly in sync with the Mongol perspective, which values the mother earth and is committed to never harming the climate. Mongolian gutals with an upturned toe and flat soles without heels, in other words, do not rootle and kill the soil or plant.

Since the boots have upturned heels, they do not come into contact with stones or other artifacts, preserving the boots’ surface. Mongolian gutals last a long time, and even grown-up children will pass their boots down to their younger brothers. Mongolian boots are made up of two parts: the boots themselves and special long socks made of a thick fabric on the inside. Long socks shield the feet from the cold and the gall.

The ornaments embroidered on the gutals are given a higher value in particular. Previously, one could tell someone’s rank and importance by looking at the patterns on his boots.

Ordinary herders, for example, have no patterns on their gutals, while noblemen, bureaucrats, and lamas have ornaments on their boots that correspond to their rank. The more patterns a man had on his gutals, the higher his rank.

You can identify the rank of wrestlers throughout what boots they wear

Beginners and lower-rank wrestlers wear plain boots, whereas eminent or higher-rank wrestlers may customize their boots to reflect their abilities and victories. Mongolian boots now have anywhere from eight to 64 ornaments embroidered on them.

Mongolians are generally respectful of their elders. Simply put, there should be less patterns on children’s or younger people’s boots. Elders, on the other hand, could wear their boots with 40 ornaments, and the family’s oldest members could wear – with 64 ornaments.
