Mongolian festivals take place throughout the year and are mostly celebrations of Mongolian Culture. In total there are 9 major celebrations in Mongolia. Usually, holidays are noted on the actual date, however if a holiday is celebrated on weekend, then the government may declare an additional day off according to their rights. All public holidays in Mongolia are treated like Sundays. This means that most of the Mongolia employees have a day off and all schools are closed on these office holidays. Frequently, these decisions are published and taken at very short amount of time, therefore as an employer or business visitor should notice that business hours around public holidays may change a week before. Moreover, public holidays could be granted for events such as general elections.

In 2019, which is a leap year, Mongolia has a total of 8 public holidays, 15 days of which fall on working day. In 2020, the public holidays in Mongolia added by Buddha Day.
