The nation of Mongolia is located in central east Asia and covers over 1,5 million sq km (604,245 sq miles) of land, which would be equal to half of Europe. It is 19th biggest country in the World & 7th biggest country in the Asia. Also 2nd largest interlocked country. Its total borderline is 8161.8 km long, 3485 km of which is with Russia in north and 4676.8 km is with China in south.

Mongolia is known as the “Land of Blue Sky”.

Mongolia resides on a high mountainous plateau (mountains make up 42.5 percent of the territory.) some 1,580 meters above sea level. So it has exceptionally continental climate varying adversely across the country and between the seasons. From the Gobi Desert areas of the south, Mongolia rises into a grass-covered and generally treeless plain accented by three mountain ranges. The highest point 4,374 m (14,350 ft.) is found in the rugged Atlai Mountains of the west. The lowest point is Khukh Lake the Great Eastern Plains are 518 m (1,699 ft.). Travelling from north to south, one would go from Siberian forests and lakes, pass through open steppe grassland and mountains, and ultimately reach the Gobi Desert.

Mongolia has short warm summers and rainfall barely exceed 380 millimetres around mountain areas and lower than 50 millimetres around desert areas, on the other hand winters are long cold and dry. From mid-June to mid-August temperatures in capital city Ulaanbaatar arise more than +30 degrees Celsius, however in the winter temperature can drop below -30 degrees Celsius. Weather in autumn and spring is very unpredictable, where snow can be seen in later August or early June and also hot weather can occur in April and October.
